Dr. Lon Oliver became the Executive Director of AMERC in 2003. Lon served on the adjunct staff of CORA (2001-2006) and as the Director of Kentucky Appalachian Ministry (2001-2014). His professional interests include the Rural Church Network in the United States and Canada (2004-Present) and Human Economic Appalachian Development Board of Directors (2012-Present). He has trained with the People’s Institute (New York), Cross Roads, and Faith Trust Institute. Lon is a child of the mountains having been reared in Wyoming (Rocky Mountains) and spent his adult life in Kentucky (Appalachian Mountains). He enjoys photography. Lon is married to the Reverend Maria del los Angeles Oliver and they have an adult child, David.
